Virginie Guedj frees herself in Paris
Publié le 17 Sep 2020

When Virginie Guedj, aka The SefWoman, asked me to write her a few lines about her show, stating «can you send this to me tomorrow first? », I was like at first «it’s Sunday, I know she made her alya but is she kidding me or what? »

Then I thought back to all those Monday evenings where I was waiting, such as Bernadette Soubirou the apparition of the Virgin in Lourdes, her weekly column which was to be published Tuesday morning on Jewpop, and my messages treating her with all the names. for his delay and his lame apologies. Let’s move on, because as our friends from Pétain would say, this is all in the past. I must admit that my specialty is still writing about shows, movies, books, records … that I haven’t seen, read or listened to. The press kits are generally very well made for that, then just change a few commas and presto, everyone is happy.

There, I’m a little stuck because Virginie didn’t send me the press kit for her One Woman Show « Free », which I nevertheless saw a few months ago. I could have just written, « You liked it in The SefWoman, you will love it in Libre! « , But it’s a bit short to express what Virginie Guedj’s talent is.

I will just tell you that discovering her for the first time on the stage upset me, like a father who takes his daughter to La Teba for her wedding. Virginie is a bit like my baby, and I must admit that seeing her take her wings on stage moved me terribly and above all made me laugh to tears. She’s got everything big, to paraphrase a famous pub. And then an artist who manages to combine Du Bellay’s poem and doggy style really deserves all my respect and all my admiration.
